Talking and Listening Skills

Date(s) - 12/02/2014
9:30 am - 3:30 pm

Presenter – Marie Richardson

Are we losing the ability to have a conversation?  Texting, video games, televisions and computer screens seem to rule our lives.  Each of these technologies has a place in today’s play; however we must ensure that the art of conversation leads this engagement.

Enhancing the curriculum through exciting environments and fabulous resources, including technology, ensures children and adults will become actively engaged in fun purposeful play and learning opportunities.

Delegates will be involved in various practical workshops throughout the day where they will use a range of resources, methods and contexts to

    • Develop oral language
    • Explore the sounds, words and phrases of our world
    • Investigate the building blocks of spoken language and how to put them firmly in place for every child
    • Link phonological awareness and language development
    • Consider the mosaic approach
    • Develop Listening Partnerships
