Most children grow up mentally healthy, but surverys suggest that more children and young people have problems with their mental health today than in the past. That’s prpbably because of changes in the way we live now and how that affects the experience of growing up. Children have to cope with many different situations and unfamiliar challenges like relationships and the other pressures of growing up.

Out of School Care offers the perfect opportunity for children to understand wellbeing and mental health, find the space to talk, understand their feelings and express their thoughts. In the informal setting of OOSC practitioners can support and encourage children to recognise the importance of looking after their own wellbeing and mental health.

Delegates will:
-Understand the challenges and issues children face.
-Explore a range a mental health conditions that children may face.
-Discover ways to support children in their ability to explain their concerns on a one to one basis and in groups.
-Discover activities for children which promote wellbeing and good mental health
-Explore ways to help children cope with every day life and its challenges
